Our tours run rain or shine. If you need to cancel, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your tour for a full refund. Otherwise, you are welcome to reschedule, as availability allows, or we can issue a credit for future use.
Each tour requires a minimum number of participants. If a tour is cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, or because of exceptional circumstances such as hazardous weather, you’ll be notified and offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
Our online booking system shows our current availability. Space allowing, we will accept walk-up guests. If you don’t book ahead, please bring exact cash since your guide may not be able to make change.

Absolutely! We can offer any of our tours for private groups outside of our regular schedule. We may also be able to customize a tour for your group. Please contact us directly to inquire about private tours.
We encourage everyone to arrive 5-10 minutes early but we also know unexpected things can happen. If you find yourself running late, let us know via call or text as soon as you can. We may be able to give you directions on how to catch up to us.
The Signature Tour and the Newfoundland Beer Tour meet at the bronze statue on the east end of George Street (“A TIME”).
The Newfoundland Food Tour meets at 99 George Street (Holdsworth Court) at the corner of George Street and Adelaide Street.
Walking on Water Street meets at Harbourside Park.
Downtown’s Old Haunts meets at Erin’s Pub at 186 Water Street.
The Signal Hill Coastal Hike meets at Deadmans Pond on Signal Hill across the street from the Johnson Geo Centre.
The Signature Tour is 3km and runs 2h30. We won’t rush you and encourage questions so times can vary.
The Newfoundland Food Tour is 2km and runs 3 hours.
The Newfoundland Beer Tour is 750m and runs 2.5 hours.
Walking on Water is 800m and runs 90 minutes.
Our tour will be operating during the St. John’s Pedestrian Mall so parking will be unavailable on most of Water Street starting on June 25, 2026. We recommend using one of the local parking garages for ease and convenience: MetroPark on Duckworth Street, 351 Water Street (accessible from Harbour Drive), Bowring Park, or Atlantic Place. There are limited on-street parking spots on Harbour Drive and Duckworth Street.
On-Street Parking
The City of St. Johns manages on-street parking downtown. Parking is free after 6 p.m. on weekdays, all day on weekends, and on statutory holidays. Do not park on George Street!
Outside of evenings and weekend you can pay to park on-street with the PayByPhone app or on the PayByPhone website. If you prefer to pay in person, pay stations are available throughout downtown. Although they are cash-free, they offer multiple payment options, including most credit cards, debit cards and mobile payment. There is a 3 hour time limit for on-street parking Monday-Friday between 8am-6pm. If you are taking the Newfoundland food tour during this time we recommend using a private lot.

There are several privately-owned parking lots, garages, and spaces throughout the downtown that offer a combination of hourly, daily and/or permit parking.

You can pay in multiple ways. We encourage you to book in advance and pay for your tour online, using a credit card, at the time of booking. If you do need to pay at the time of your tour, please bring exact cash since your guide may not be able to make change.
If you feel your guide has given an exceptional tour, your tip is certainly appreciated and at your discretion.
There are public washrooms available at Bannerman Park during the Signature Tour. Let your guide know a bit ahead of time if nature calls outside of this location so they can turn on their George Costanza thinking caps.
The Newfoundland Food Tour and Newfoundland Beer Tour make stops at local restaurants and bars so you can use their facilities during those stops, if needed.
Some of our tours are not wheelchair accessible as there are stairs involved.
The Signature Tour will climb 42m in elevation from the harbour, though we go slowly and take lots of breaks. There are multiple up and down staircases. We would rate this tour as moderate due to its 3km length and hills.
The Newfoundland Food Tour and the Newfoundland Beer Tour involve multiple sets of stairs to get to some restaurants. The length of the walk is about 2km.
However, Walking on Water was designed to be accessible and barrier-free so we recommend this tour is you use mobility aids or just don’t want to be on your feet for too long.
PROPER attire. Check the weather! Pro tip: St. John’s can be windy so we recommend packing a raincoat along with your umbrella. Bring a refillable water container to keep yourself hydrated. Sunscreen to protect your skin. Bring a camera and make sure you share your photos with us. Some cash for tips or purchases where possible is always a good idea. Bring a good attitude, you’re on vacay.
We love kids. That being said you know your little ones best. While our tours are family-friendly they are not geared towards children. If your kid can walk 2 or 3km and would be interested in hearing some stories of St. John’s we’d love to have them along.
No unaccompanied minors will be permitted.
The Newfoundland Beer Tasting Tour and Downtown’s Old Haunts are strictly 19+.
Yes! All of our tours are available in English. We also offer our Signature tour, Food tour, and Beer tour as a private option in French!
We don’t offer any free walking tours in St. John’s. Our guides put in many hours of research and training to ensure we’re offering top-notch walking tours to visitors and so we pay them a salary. To be able to do this we’re unable to offer free or pay-what-you-wish tours. We believe that all of our tours offer great value and you won’t regret booking one with us.
Booking for one person? Great——we love solo travellers! Please note we require three or more participants to run a tour. If you are the only one booked the day before a tour (48h before a food tour), we may ask you to move to a different tour or give you a full refund.
