Frequently Asked Questions2022-06-16T10:54:13-02:30

All your questions, answered.

What is your cancellation policy?2022-06-29T12:37:41-02:30

Our motto here is “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.”

Our tours run rain or shine. If you need to cancel, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance of the start of your tour for a full refund. Otherwise, you are welcome to reschedule, as availability allows, or we can issue a credit for future use.

Each tour requires a minimum number of participants. If a tour is cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, or because of exceptional circumstances such as hazardous weather, you’ll be notified and offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

What is your COVID-19 policy?2022-06-16T10:57:25-02:30

On March 14, 2022 business restrictions were lifted in Newfoundland and Labrador. This includes capacity limits, physical distancing, proof of vaccination requirements, and mandatory masks.

You are not required to show proof of vaccination or to wear a mask during your tour, though you are certainly welcome to if you choose. Since our tours take place entirely outdoors your guide will not be wearing a mask. Hand sanitizer will be available.

How do I book a tour?2022-06-16T10:40:49-02:30

Our online booking system shows our current availability. Space allowing, we will accept walk-up guests. If you don’t book ahead, please bring exchange cash since your guide may not be able to make change.

Can I book a private tour?2022-06-16T10:42:26-02:30

Absolutely! We can offer either our Signature or Core tours for private groups outside of our regular schedule. We may also be able to customize a tour for your group. Please contact us directly to inquire about private tours.

What happens if I’m running late?2022-06-16T10:39:24-02:30

We encourage everyone to arrive 5-10 minutes early but we also know unexpected things can happen. If you find yourself running late, let us know via call or text as soon as you can. We may be able to give you directions on how to catch up to us.

Where do we meet for the tour?2022-06-21T09:06:10-02:30

The Signature Tour and the Core Tour meet at the bronze statue on the east end of George Street (“A TIME”).

How long is the tour?2022-06-15T21:54:36-02:30

The Signature Tour is 3km and runs between 2 and 2.5 hours. We won’t rush you and encourage questions so times can vary.

The Core Tour is 2km and runs around 90 minutes.

Where should I park?2022-06-16T09:53:52-02:30

Downtown St. John's Parking Map

Our tour will be operating during the St. John’s Pedestrian Mall so parking will be unavailable on most of Water Street. We recommend using one of the local parking garages for ease and convenience: MetroPark on Duckworth Street, 351 Water Street (accessible from Harbour Drive), Bowring Park, or Atlantic Place. There are limited on-street parking spots on Harbour Drive and Duckworth Street.

How do I pay?2022-06-16T10:43:53-02:30

You can pay in multiple ways. We encourage you to book in advance and pay for your tour online, using a credit card, at the time of booking. If you do need to pay at the time of your tour, please bring exact cash since your guide may not be able to make change.

Should I tip my guide?2022-06-11T18:06:13-02:30

If you feel your guide has given an exceptional tour, your tip is certainly appreciated and at your discretion.

Are there washroom stops during the tour?2022-06-16T10:52:21-02:30

There are public washrooms available at Atlantic Place on Water Street (Signature and Core Tours) and also at Bannerman Park (Signature Tour). Let your guide know a bit ahead of time if nature calls outside of these two places so they can turn on their George Costanza thinking caps.

What are your accessibility features?2022-06-16T10:45:24-02:30

Our tours are not wheelchair accessible as there are stairs involved.

The Signature Tour will climb 42m in elevation from the harbour, though we go slowly and take lots of breaks. There are multiple up and down staircases. We would rate this tour as moderate due to its 3km length and hills.

The Core Tour has one moderate uphill section and two down sets of stairs. This tour should be easily manageable for most patrons. We would rate this tour as easy-moderate.

What should I bring with me?2022-06-15T21:52:56-02:30

PROPER attire. Check the weather! Pro tip: umbrellas are useless in St. John’s wind – pack a raincoat. Bring a refillable water container to keep yourself hydrated. Sunscreen for your pretty skin. Bring a camera and make sure you share your photos with us. Some cash for tips or purchases where possible is always a good idea. Bring a good attitude, you’re on vacay.

Can I bring my kids?2022-06-16T10:50:08-02:30

Duh, we love kids. That being said you know your little ones best. While our tours are family-friendly they are not geared towards children. If your kid can walk 2 or 3km and would be interested in hearing some stories of St. John’s we’d love to have them along.

No unaccompanied minors will be permitted.

Do you offer tours in multiple languages?2022-07-06T14:35:18-02:30

At this time we can only offer our tours in English.
